Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Caldera, Inc. (together with any affiliated or related entities, "Caldera," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit our websites, including hellocaldera.com, sherpaquote.com, and trustyquote.com, or submit a form requesting insurance quotes or related information (collectively, the "Sites"). SherpaQuote and TrustyQuote are brands owned and operated by Caldera, Inc. The Sites are intended for residents of the United States. This Policy is incorporated into, and considered part of, our Terms of Service. By using the Sites, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Information you provide directly: name, street address, ZIP code, date of birth, phone number, email address, and whether you prefer a call or a text; vehicle information (year, make, model, and whether you own, finance, or lease); current insurance status and current insurer; when you want coverage to start and which insurance products you are interested in (such as auto, home, or renters); whether you own or rent your home; gender; marital status; a self-reported credit range; driving history (at-fault accidents, tickets, and DUI or SR-22 status); military affiliation; and similar details about other drivers in your household that you choose to provide. Businesses that use the contact form on hellocaldera.com provide a name, business email, company, topic, and message.
Consent records: when you submit a form, we keep a record of the consent you gave, including the consent wording and version shown to you, the date and time, your IP address and browser information, and, where used, a certificate or token from a consent verification service.
Information collected automatically: IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and browser type, operating system, pages and form steps viewed and their timing, the page you arrived on, referring website, and marketing source identifiers included in the link you followed (such as campaign, publisher, or affiliate codes and ad click identifiers), collected through cookies and similar technologies.
Information from other sources: we obtain information from fraud prevention, phone validation, and Do Not Call and litigation screening services to confirm that a submission is genuine and that we may contact you. We also receive marketing source information from the publishers and affiliates that referred you to the Sites.
Information we do not request: our quote forms do not ask for Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, or payment card information.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: match you with insurance agents, carriers, and other marketing partners (collectively, "Partners") who may be able to provide you with a quote or other product or service, now or in the future, whether or not related to insurance; operate, maintain, and improve the Sites; verify the accuracy of submitted information and prevent fraud; keep records of the consent you provided; credit and pay the publishers and affiliates that referred you; communicate with you, including by phone, text, and email, about products and services you have requested or that we believe may interest you; engage in joint marketing with Partners and other financial or insurance companies; build audience segments and aggregated profiles for analytics, modeling, and matching purposes, including through automated decision-making; serve, measure, and optimize advertising, including retargeting and interest-based advertising to you on the Sites and on third-party websites, apps, and platforms; comply with legal obligations; and for our general internal analytics and business purposes.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share your information with Partners so that they may contact you about insurance and other products and services, including ones you did not specifically request. Depending on how a form is structured, your information may be sent to a single Partner or to multiple Partners, including our Partner lists for SherpaQuote and TrustyQuote. Partners may first receive your request without your name, phone number, email, or street address so they can indicate interest; the Partner or Partners selected then receive the full request, including your contact details. Our list of Partners may change from time to time, and we encourage you to check back periodically. We also share information with:
- Other financial, insurance, and marketing companies with whom we engage in joint marketing, so they may offer you products or services that may interest you.
- Advertising networks, data co-operatives, and analytics and measurement platforms, including for the purpose of ad targeting, retargeting, and measuring advertising performance across other websites and platforms.
- Service providers who perform functions on our behalf, such as website hosting and security, consent verification (for example, TrustedForm or Jornaya), fraud prevention and phone validation, Do Not Call and litigation screening, lead distribution technology, affiliate tracking, analytics, and customer support.
- Publishers and affiliates that referred you to the Sites, which receive confirmation that a request was submitted, but not your contact details.
- Affiliates and related business entities under common ownership with Caldera.
- Government authorities, regulators, or other parties when required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Caldera, our users, or others.
- Successors in the event of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of business assets.
We require Partners and service providers who receive your information to use it in compliance with applicable law. We do not knowingly collect, use, or share personal information from individuals under the age of eighteen (18).
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We and our partners use cookies, web beacons, browser storage, and similar technologies to recognize your browser or device, remember your preferences, measure the effectiveness of our marketing, and understand how visitors use the Sites. These include:
- Our own cookies that record which campaign or partner referred your visit, recognize your browser on return visits, and keep you on the same version of a page during testing.
- Temporary browser storage that saves your form answers in progress so a page refresh does not lose them. It does not store your contact details and is cleared when you close the tab or submit the form.
- Analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, that measure page views and form steps.
- Security and consent verification tools, such as Cloudflare Turnstile, TrustedForm, and Jornaya, which may set or read their own cookies or storage to do their job. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that visitors are human; Cloudflare's handling of that data is described in its Turnstile Privacy Addendum (Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum).
You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect how the Sites function.
6. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to: know what personal information we have collected about you; request a copy of that information; request correction of inaccurate information; request deletion of your information; and opt out of certain sharing or sale of your information, including for targeted advertising purposes. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@hellocaldera.com or write to us at the address in Section 10. A member of our team will review and respond to your request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. We may need to verify your identity before processing certain requests.
Opting out of the sale or sharing of your information. Sending your quote request to Partners may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under some state laws. You may opt out at any time through the Your Privacy Choices page on SherpaQuote or TrustyQuote, or by emailing us at privacy@hellocaldera.com. When you opt out, we will stop sending your future requests to Partners and will tell Partners that already received your information about your request.
Calls, texts, and emails. You can stop calls or texts by replying STOP to any text message, telling the caller, or emailing us at privacy@hellocaldera.com. You can unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email. Partners who have already contacted you may need to be told directly; we will pass your request along to them.
For California residents specifically, in the preceding twelve (12) months we may have disclosed the categories of personal information described in Section 2 to the categories of third parties described in Section 4, for the business purposes described in Section 3.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide our services, comply with legal and regulatory obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary depending on the type of data and the requirements of applicable law.
8. Data Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. Access to personal information is limited to our team through individual sign-in, and personal details are kept out of our analytics and internal reporting tools. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
The Sites are not directed to individuals under the age of eighteen (18), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Our forms may ask the adult submitting a request for limited details, such as an age range and driving record, about other drivers in the household, who may be under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under eighteen (18), we will take steps to delete that information.
10. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your privacy rights, you may contact us at privacy@hellocaldera.com or by writing to us at: Caldera, Inc., 25 1st Ave SW, Ste A, Watertown, SD 57201-3507.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy indicates when it was last revised. Your continued use of the Sites after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
